CONSIDERING THAT MOST TRADITIONAL FORMS OF ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A DECLINE IN EXPENDITURES:
AD SPENDING IN OUTDOOR HAS ACTUALLY SEEN A GAIN OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS?
THE REASONS WHY I BELIEVE THIS TO BE SO OR REASONS WHY I SEE OUTDOOR ADVERTISING AS THE MOST EFFECTIVE ADVERTISING MEDIUM:
Ø Even with the high gas prices people are still traveling in high numbers and outdoor advertising is the most cost effective way to reach a desired target audience.
Ø Outdoor advertising is the best way to make the biggest impact possible because society is becoming more mobile.
Ø This includes more people walking or running adding to the increase in outdoor audiences.
Ø Print ad (newspaper, magazines) can be cluttered or wordy.
Ø TV ads can be fast forwarded or easier ignored.
Ø Radio ads possibly too fast?
BUT: THE BILLBOARD, WALLSCAPES, FLEET-ADS and OTHER FORMS OF OUTDOOR ADS:
Ø CAN BE OUT THERE FRONT AND CENTER & BIGGER THAN LIFE!
Ø Unless you want to put blinders on and run in the ditch you most likely have to look.
Ø Verbiage is short and to the point to be successful.
Ø WALLSCAPES are one of the boldest creations in out-of-home media. Due to their huge size; they attract a huge amount of attention from both motorists and foot traffic.
Ø WallScapes come in a variety of sizes.
Ø Most WallScapes are found in urban areas where other outdoor mediums such as billboards are not possible.
Ø The two types of billboard type ads available; ROTARY and PERMANENT allow versatility.
Ø The permanent billboard or outdoor type of ad line up makes it possible for advertisers:
Ø To keep a particular location due to the high volume associated with a particular structure.
Ø Viewing the specific structure may cause consumers to relate it to a product or the message the advertiser is trying to get across.
Ø The rotary billboard or outdoor type of ad line up makes it possible for advertisers:
Ø To enter a variety of markets with the same display because it can be moved to structures that the advertiser chooses such as being moved along a pre-determined route or displayed at a different place at a certain date or length of time just as stores change their displays.
Ø How many people have seen the big beef cow on wheels with advertisement on the side parked at a business?
Ø What about the semi that passes by or sits in a parking lot with a billboard type ad on its side?
Ø Fleet Ads:
Ø Trucks drive a designated route each day, and offer 650 square feet of advertising space
Ø You can target the area and know whom your message is reaching.
Ø FM radio transmitter enables the customer to turn their advertisement into a moving radio commercial! Your message is continuously broadcast within a 300 ft radius of the truck. ( I am not sure how they do that but this allows your target audience to both "see" and "hear" your message) Wow I think that is great!
Ø Over all review: they get noticed and noticed by high volumes.
Ø Less likely to become overlooked!
Ø It is a cost wise form of advertising.
